One of the biggest news to come out of Dengeki Bunko Aki no Saiten 2016 event is related to popular light novel series Zero Kara Hajimeru Maho no Sho. The series is all set to be made into a television anime series. The anime will be broadcast in spring next year.
The story of the novels revolves around a witch called Zero, who is searching for a magical book called “The Book of Zero.” The book contains a power which may spell the end of the world. In her quest for the book, she is accompanied by a half-beast, half-human mercenary, who also acts as her guard. Their adventurous story goes through many twists and turns. The novel series is set in the world where witches still exist. However, the knowledge of witchcraft is almost unknown, making it difficult for Zero to retrieve and use the book.
The original light novel series was written by Kakeru Kobashiri and was illustrated by Yoshinori Shizuma. The anime series will be directed by Tetsuo Hirakawa of Kawa no Hikari fame. The original character designs will be adapted for anime by Daisuke Mataga and Ryosuke Kimiya.
Yumiri Hanamori will play the part of Zero while the role of mercenary will be played by Tsuyoshi Koyama. Yo Taichi has been cast as Albus.
The novel series debuted in 2013. The novels won the grand prize at the 20th Dangeki Novel Awards in2013. It was adapted into a manga in 2014. The manga was released by Takeshi Iwasaki in Dangeki Maoh. The fourth compiled volume of manga was released in August this year. Yasutuke also launched the spinoff manga version of the novels in October. The spinoff is named Zero Kara Hajimeru Maho no Sho nano.
