Popular Chinese smartphone manufacturer, Meizu has just announced its latest budget-friendly smartphone, Meizu m3 note. The device will be made available very soon and is expected to lock horns with the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3. Both of these smartphones don a full metal body with some really impressive features at a really affordable price. For those of you who are unable to decide between these two budget-friendly mid-range smartphones, here is a comparison of their specs and features which will ease your decision.

Design and Display

Meizu m3 note and Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 both come in a similar bar form factor.  On one hand, Meizu M3 Note measures 153.6 x 75.5 x 8.2 mm and weighs 163 grams while on the other side, we have 164 grams Redmi Note 3 with a dimension of 150 x 76 x 8.7 mm. As already stated, they sport a metallic body and they come in common grey and gold colour, apart from that, the m3 note is also available in white colour.

Both of these sport a 5.5-inch FHD display with an extra safe scratch resistant glass available on Meizu m3 note.

Performance

Meizu m3 note is powered by an octa-core MediaTek MT6755 Helio P10 chipset clocked at 1.8 GHz. Whereas, Redmi Note 3 is powered by a Snapdragon 650 hexacore processor clocked at 1.4 GHz. Both the Meizu m3 note and Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 are available in 2 GB and 3 GB RAM variant with an internal memory of 16 GB and 32 GB, respectively.

The Helio P10 SoC on m3 note scores an average of 51,000 points on AnTuTu benchmark test whereas the Redmi Note 3 which is powered by a Snapdragon 650 hexacore processor scored 75,000 on the same benchmarking app. They both don a hybrid dual-SIM slot which means users can use an external microSD card but only at the expense of the second SIM-slot.

Camera and Other Features

Meizu m3 note features a 13-MP rear shooter with a f/2.2 aperture lens and the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 sports a 16-MP rear camera that houses a f/2.0 aperture lens. Both of these cameras are equipped with common features like dual LED flash, face detection, autofocus, and FHD video shooting. Again for selfies and video calling, we have a 5-MP front snapper with a f/2.0 aperture lens.

Both of these smartphones come with Android Lollipop OS out of the box and on the top of it, we have Meizu’s customized Flyme UI and Xiaomi’s MIUI 7.0. As is customary now both of these smartphones feature a fingerprint scanner.

Battery and Price

Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 packs a 4000 mAh battery with a fast charging support. The Meizu m3 note boasts a slightly bigger 4100 mAh battery. 2 GB model of Note 3 is priced at $125 and that of Meizu m3 note is priced at $154. The 3 GB variant of both is priced at $185 and $155 respectively.

Verdict

Both of these are great devices, but the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 has a slight edge over the Meizu m3 note in terms of processor and camera. The price difference is very minute and according to us, the winner of this close battle is Xiaomi Redmi Note 3.
