Our last post about Xiaomi announcing Android M upgrade for the 17-months old Mi4 as well as the Mi Note did thrill the fans. And today we have for the award of your patience something about the successor of the Mi4. Yes, it is surely about the Xiaomi Mi5 which is already being used personally by CEO, Lei Jun.

mi5Xiaomi’s Weibo site posted a picture of an unnamed smartphone recently. The post seems to shoot right away at some nearing launch. With Pan Jiutang’s prediction about the launch of the Mi5 in February which is just two months ahead, we are left with lesser doubts before setting ourselves with the conclusion that the smartphone in the picture is none other than the Mi5.

The phone featured in the pic shares common looks with the Mi Note. The handset presented has thinner bezels and offers a more premium look.

Not just looks, we’ve even got firm claims about the specifications of the device. The handset packs a 4GB of RAM with 64B internal storage, and sports a 5.2-inch 1440 x 2560 display with Synaptics ClearForce technology. For the photographers, the Mi5 features a 21MP rear camera along with an 8MP front shooter. Under the hood is the Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820 SoC which is the main reason Xiaomi had postponed its flagship launch for such a long time. It was waiting for Qualcomm to ship its most powerful chipset till date. The SD820 will house a quad-core CPU sided with Adreno 530.

Predicted to launch in February, the high on specs Mi5, yes we are reiterating, is gonna be ‘worth a wait’.
