These flagships will burn a hole in your pocket.
However, you needn’t be sad as there are still few devices out there which can provide you great quality and top of the line specs at about half or one-third of the prices of these big flagships. Yes, you’re thinking in the right direction, we’re indeed talking about the Xiaomi Mi5 and Vivo X6. Both of these devices promise great quality and performance at amazing prices. But which of these should you opt for? Let us find out by pitting them against each other.
Design And Display
The Xiaomi Mi 5 has an all-metal body and sports a curved back. The device has extremely thin bezels and looks very premium and elegant. The Mi5 features a 5.2-inche FullHD display with Gorilla Glass 4 protection. The device is very lightweight and feels very good in the hand.
The Vivo X6 on the other hand flaunts an all-metal body. It sports a 5.2-inch FHD Super AMOLED display with 2.5D curved glass and 424ppi. The design of the Vivo X6 is almost similar to the latest iPhones. Except for the fingerprint sensor at the rear and headphone jack at the top, the device exactly resembles the iPhone.
Performance
The Xiaomi Mi5 is powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor coupled with 3GB/4GB of RAM. The device comes in internal memory variants of 32GB/64GB/128GB and packs a 3000 mAh battery.
The Vivo X6 is powered by a 1.7GHz MediaTek MT6752 octa-core processor coupled with Mali-T760 GPU and 4GB of RAM. The X6 packs a battery of 2,400mAh and offers an internal storage of 32GB which can be further expanded up to 128 GB via microSD card.
Camera
The Mi5 sports a 16MP primary rear camera with f/2.0 aperture, dual-tone dual-LED flash, PDAF, and OIS (Optical Image Stabilisation). It is capable of recording 4K videos and has a 4MP UltraPixel secondary camera.
The Vivo X6 features a 13MP rear camera with PDAF, f/2.2 aperture, LED flash, and PDAF sensor. There is an 8MP secondary camera for great selfies and video chats.
Others
Both the devices sport a fingerprint sensor. The Mi5 also features an NFC and USB Type-C port. Both the devices support 4G. The Mi5 runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow with MIUI 7 while the Vivo X6 runs Android 5.1 Lollipop on top Funtouch OS 2.5.
Pricing And Verdict
The Mi5 has an entry level price of $400 and goes as high as about $500, while the Vivo X6 costs CNY 2,600 (approx. $406), while China Unicom customers will have to pay CNY 2,500 (approx. $391) for this device.
The Mi5 outsmarts the Vivo X6 in almost all spheres including performance, camera and battery. Both the devices look premium and elegant. The Vivo X6 has an edge over the Mi5 in terms of expandable storage and price. The price difference, however, isn’t much and for us, the winner clearly is the Xiaomi Mi5.
