Xiaomi launched its latest flagship Xiaomi Mi5 last month, and the phone has been very well appreciated by its fans as well as industry experts. With the Mi5, Xiaomi has taken a huge jump in terms of quality and has proved that a premium smartphone experience need not come with a hefty price tag.
On the other hand, Micromax in India has launched its Micromax Canvas 6 series of smartphones that promise to offer excellent specs at low prices. So let’s compare the Micromax Canvas 6 and the Xiaomi Mi5 and see whether or not you should buy the expensive Mi5.

Design and Display
With the Canvas 6, Micromax has started a new phase of its smartphone-making practices. The Micromax Canvas 6 is an all-metal unibody that gets a love-it-or-hate-it design. It’s good, but some people might find it trying to be too cool. The phone gets a 5.5-inch FullHD screen with Gorilla Glass 3 on top.
The Xiaomi Mi5 is in another league altogether and is much, much better than the Canvas 6 in terms of looks. The Xiaomi Mi5 gets the latest and the best Snapdragon 820 processor used in most of the high-end flagships nowadays. It comes with 3GB of RAM for the 32GB and 64GB variants, while the 128GB Pro variant gets 4GB of RAM.
In comparison, the Micromax Canvas 6 gets 3GB of RAM and 32GB of onboard storage. It is powered by MediaTek’s Helio X10. This is the same configuration as seen in Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 3.
Camera and Battery
The Canvas 6 gets a 13MP rear camera with PDAF and LED flash with a f/2.0 aperture. It comes with an 8MP front snapper. On the other hand, the Xiaomi Mi5 flaunts a 16MP rear camera with f/2.0 aperture, 4-axis OIS (Optical Image Stabilization), dual-tone dual-LED flash, and PDAF. It gets a 4MP UltraPixel front camera.
Both the phones get juiced by 3000mAh batteries.

The Canvas 6 gets a fingerprint sensor, but the sensor on the Mi5 is faster. Also, the Xiaomi Mi5 gets NFC, USB Type-C port, and Quick Charge 3.0
Price and Verdict
The Xiaomi Mi5 costs INR 14,000 ($211 approx.), while the Xiaomi Mi5 costs INR 24,000 ($361). Of course, there’s a big difference in the prices, but the Mi5 gives you a premium smartphone experience while the Canvas 6 is a budget smartphone. Go for the one that fits in your budget.
