Although some manufacturers (Sony, Samsung) announced their flagship models will receive the new Android Nougat, Xiaomi was pretty quiet about its update schedule.
The new OS will come to Nexus 6, Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P, Nexus 9, Nexus Player, Pixel C and Android One, as well to the S7/S7 Edge, Note 7, Sony Xperia X Performance and Xperia XZ. LG is also going serious with its V20, the first model bringing Nougat out of the box.
Xiaomi, on the other side, hasn’t shared its Nougat update schedule, but it’s pretty sure that the upcoming Mi Note 2 (Mi Note Pro) will come with Android 7.0 Nougat, along with MIUI 8. The upcoming model is cleared by the Chinese CCC authority and should come early next month.
Other models expected to receive Android Nougat are: Xiaomi Mi 5, Redmi Pro, Mi 4s, Mi 4c, Redmi Note 3, Redmi Note 4, Redmi 2 Prime, Redmi 3, Redmi 3s, Redmi 3A, Mi Max, Mi Note, Mi Note Pro, Mi Pad 2, and Mi 4i.
Owners of Xiaomi Mi 2, Mi 2S, Mi 3, Mi 4 and Redmi 1S won’t see the new Android version since Snapdragon 801 chipset used in those devices isn’t compatible with Nougat’s new Vulcan API (Qualcomm refused to release the updated graphic drivers for Snapdragon 801).
Android Nougat features multi-window support, new VR platform called Daydream, direct reply notifications, improved Doze feature, Screen Zoom, better Data Saver and many more new features.
