Alongside the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3, the Chinese tech giant also announced the second generation Mi Pad 2. The new device basically focused on the improved design (resembles iPad Mini 4) with thin dimension and light weight. Featuring the full-metal body, it measures 6.95mm and weighs around 322g, compared to first generation Mi Pad’s 8.5mm thickness and 360g weight.

The Mi Pad 2 features a 7.9-inch display with a resolution 2048 x 1536 pixels, and is powered by the new Intel Atom X5-Z8500 chipset manufactured on 14nm technology. It packs 2GB of RAM along with 16GB and 64GB internal storage options. The camera department includes an 8-megapixel primary snapper along with a 5-megapixel front-facing shooter. The slate gets power from a smaller 6,190mAh cell, compared to 6,700mAh on previous generation Mi Pad.

As far as connectivity is concerned, the Mi Pad 2 features all standard connectivity options including USB Type-C port.

Priced at RMB 999 ($156) for smaller storage variant (16GB) and RMB 1299 ($203) for 64GB model, the Xiaomi Mi Pad 2 will be available in dark gray and champagne gold color options. There is no word on the global rollout of any of the devices announced in today’s event.
