Xiaomi has forayed into the large Phablet segment with its latest smartphone Xiaomi Mi Max. The device was announced a few weeks ago and the Chinese smartphone giant finally announced the pricing and launch date of the device in India.
As the name suggests, ‘Max’ represents the large 6.44-inch FHD IPS display and the humongous 4850mAh battery of the Xiaomi Mi Max. The device flaunts an all-metal body, a fingerprint sensor, and a quite appreciable screen to body ratio. The device looks and feels premium and elegant.
The Mi Max even doesn’t lag behind in the hardware department as under the hood of this device is a powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 650/652 chipset taking care of the things. The device will come in two variants. The 3GB RAM/32GB ROM will be powered by a Snapdragon 850 chipset, while the 4GB RAM/128GB ROM variant will be powered by a Snapdragon 852 chipset. At 203g, the device is a bit on the heavier side, but many fans may overlook it considering the huge battery and larger display.
On the camera front, the Mi Max features a 16-megapixel primary camera and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. The device will come shipped with MIUI 7, but Xiaomi has promised a MIUI 8 update for this device by 8th August.
The 3GB RAM/32GB ROM variant has been priced Rs.14,999 and the 4GB RAM/128GB ROM variant will come at a price of Rs.19,999. The pricing seems reasonable and competitive considering the prices of other Mi devices.
The first batch of the Mi Max will go on sale on the 6th of July on the Mi website, while the device will be made available for open sale on various online retailers starting July 13th. It still remains to be seen whether this 6.44-inch experiment of Xiaomi will be a hit or not.
