Today, Xiaomi has launched its much-awaited smartphone Mi5s in China. Interestingly, the Xiaomi Mi5s is not the only device which came out from the stores. The Chinese tech giant also announced the Mi5s Plus smartphone and the Mi TV 3s along with the Mi5s. Check out the full specs and pricing details of both the Mi5s and Mi5s Plus below.
Xiaomi Mi5s
The Xiaomi Mi5s comes with a metal cover design with a brushed metal design on the back. It features a ceramic body and comes with a Smart Dot protective cover. The new smartphone comes equipped with a five-point non-porous ultrasonic fingerprint, which is designed to avoid chromatic aberration and reduce scratches produced. Its groove design makes it easier to find finger fingerprint region. The fingerprint sensor can identify a your fingerprint in split-second. You just needs to apply pressure on the glass.
The Mi5s is equipped with a custom bright screen, that offers up to 600 nits brightness. It sports a 5.15-inch full-HD display with NTSC 95 percent colour gamut. The display features 16 ultra-bright LED lights to further boost brightness. The new smartphone is powered by a 2.15GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor. It comes in two variants – 3GB RAM / 64GB storage and 4GB RAM / 128GB storage. Connectivity options include 4G+, NFC, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth v4.2, GPS/ A-GPS and USB 2.0. The new smartphone also sports multiple sensors including an accelerometer, gyroscope, proximity sensor, ambient light sensor, barometer, and magnetometer.

The Xiaomi Mi5s camera comes equipped with an ultra-sensitive camera with a large 1 / 2.3-inch digital camera sensor, which is 59 percent larger than the iPhone 6s Plus. The Mi5s sports a 12-megapixel rear camera with Sony IMX 378 sensor, f/2.0 aperture, and PDAF auto-focus. There is also a 4-megapixel front-facing camera with 2-micron pixels and f/2.0 aperture.
Xiaomi CEO has Lei Jun has shared some camera samples on Weibo. The released photos were taken using the dual cameras on Mi5s. Xiaomi says that the camera samples were taken by a team that went to Northern Europe, United States, and Hong Kong among other places. The full images show 8-megapixel resolution and f/2.2 aperture. The new Xiaomi Mi 5s is priced at 1999 yuan [approx. Rs. 20,000] for 64GB version, while the 128GB version is priced at 2299 yuan [approx. Rs. 23,000]. Xiaomi has opened registrations for the new device in China. The response has been overwhelming so far, with reportedly over 1.82 million registrations.
Xiaomi Mi5s Plus
Xiaomi has also launched a larger screen variant called the Mi5s Plus.
The Xiaomi Mi5s Plus features a 5.7-inch full-HD display with a brightness of 550 nits and a NTSC 94 percent colour gamut. It is also powered by a 2.35GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor. The new smartphone features a dual camera with 13MP Sony sensor with f/2.2 aperture, which is divided into color and black & white, to offer rich details and less noise. The camera features monochrome mode as well. The dual camera setup in Mi5s Plus is flat. It features a 4-megapixel front-facing camera with 2-micron pixels and f/2.0 aperture.
The Mi5s Plus features a metal uni-body design and weighs 168 grams. It also features the ultrasonic fingerprint scanner. Connectivity options include 4G+, NFC, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth v4.2, GPS/ A-GPS, and USB 2.0.
It comes in two variants – 4GB RAM / 64GB storage and 6GB RAM / 128GB storage. The Mi5s Plus 64GB version is priced at 2299 yuan [approx. Rs. 23,000], while 128GB version will cost 2599 yuan [approx. Rs. 26,000].
