All of us have been very eagerly waiting for Xiaomi to launch the Mi 5. But Xiaomi had surprise everyone by announcing its new smartphone Xiaomi Mi 4s just before the Mi 5 launch event in Bejing.
Mi 4s is a mid-segment phone and is supposed to be the successor of Mi 4i. It has a very slim and sleek design and looks premium and the spec-sheet is also looking quite impressive compared to the price. However, we’re still trying to figure out Xiaomi’s strategy in launching this phone just before the launch of Mi 5 which seems a bit odd.
The Mi 4s has a metallic frame with glass panels on both front and back and has a 5-inch 1080p display. The device is very sleek with dimensions of 139.26 x 70.76 x 7.8mm and a weight of just 133g.
The smartphone is powered by new Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 chipset along with 3 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage which can be further expanded with a microSD card.
It also has a fingerprint sensor on the back which it seems is becoming a standard for any good smartphone these days. There is a 13 MP rear shooter with PDAF and two-tone LED flash.
The device will support 4G VoLTE, dual-SIM functionality and it also features USB Type-C. It packs a battery of 3260mAh battery along with Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0 technology. The phone runs on Android OS with MIUI 7 on top.
The 64-GB model will be made available at a cost of 1699 Chinese Yuan ($260) in China which seems quite good looking at the specs. The Mi 4s will be made available in white, black, pink and gold colour variants.
