This might appear as a surprise to several people that Xiaomi has announced a cost cut in India on its flagship phone – the Mi 4. There is no festive or special event these days in India. Starting today, the Mi 4 16GB will now be available at INR 17,999 ($289) which is knocked from INR19,999 ($321) and the higher storage variant Mi 4 64GB model will now trade at INR21,999 ($353) slashed from INR 23,999 ($385).
#Mi4PriceDrop – Great news! Starting today 12 noon, we’re dropping the price of Mi 4: 16GB will now go for Rs 17,999, n 64GB for Rs 21,999

Manu Kumar Jain, head of Xiaomi in India, has confirmed in his tweet that the new prices will be everlasting and shall be available via Amazon and Snapdeal websites for India as well.
Xiaomi is also set to announce a new phone in India just a week later on April 23. Whilst there is nothing clear on the upcoming phone, the price minimize on Mi 4 does raise an eyebrow.
The Mi 4 price drop could be a strategy against the OnePlus One too. In India, the OnePlus One 16GB variant is available at INR18,999 ($305) and the 64GB is priced at INR21,999 ($353).
