Ryan Reynolds had portrayed the Hal Jordan version of superhero Green Lantern in Warner Bro’s movie Green Lantern that released in June 2011 in 3D. The film didn’t quite fare well but the role Reynolds played made him one of the few actors to headline in movies based on both Marvel and DC characters. Reynolds shot to instant stardom and found commercial success with 2016 movie Deadpool. With Deadpool’s massive commercial success, the one question everybody has on mind right now is – Will Reynolds sign up for Warner Bros’ upcoming movie Green Lantern Corps?
Will Ryan Reynolds play Green Lantern again in DC Extended Universe?
After a disappointing movie in 2011, it’s unlikely that Ryan Reynolds will be cast in the upcoming movie Green Lantern Corps. For the uninitiated, Green Lantern Corps is the name of fictional intergalactic military force appearing in DC Comics. They patrol the farthest reaches of the DC Universe at the behest of the Guardians. The movie Green Lantern Corps, set for USA release in July 2020, will see a group of humans joining the Green Lantern Corps. The story centers on the Green Lanterns of Earth – Hal Jordan, Kyle Rayner, John Stewart and Guy Gardner and the rest of the Green Lantern Corps as they fight an interstellar war against the Sinestro Corps. Sinestro Corps is an army led by the former Green Lantern Sinestro. They are armed with yellow power rings and seek a universe ruled through fear.
According to reports, it’s unclear whether the production house will re-engage with Ryan Reynolds, who is now soaring with Deadpool success and working on Deadpool 2. Ryan Reynolds in an interview to Variety said he won’t reprise the role in future installments. But then, Reynolds may eventually change his decision and agree to return to the green suit role. It remains to be seen if Warner Bros has Reynolds on their minds for the role in the upcoming movie. This could turn the other way too. Warner Bros has taken note of the raging success of Deadpool and may willingly cast Ryan Reynolds in Green Lantern Corps.
