It’s the last week of the year 2016. The major highlight of 2016 was the scheduled release and OTA roll-out of Android Nougat to many smartphones. Several smartphone manufacturers including Samsung, LG, HTC, Moto have already begun rolling out Nougat update for several models. Honor 8, the high-end smartphone from Huawei, is also likely to receive the update very soon. The company has confirmed the roll-out date for Android 7.0 Nougat.
Honor has apparently confirmed to several outlets that it will begin the Android 7.0 Nougat update roll-out to Honor 8 starting February 2017. The company’s EMUI 5.0 interface is also expected to roll-out in February. The February update for EMUI will bring in major changes to the current UI. App Lock feature in the upcoming EMUI 5.0 will offer enhanced security for user’s apps. The update is also likely to bring in power saving modes to improve battery life considerably.
Machine Learning To Improve App Prioritization
There’s another important update coming up. Machine learning on EMUI 5.0 skin will allow Honor 8 devices to prioritize apps, for allocation of resources. The machine learning capability will analyze user’s behavior over time and tune its behavior to better prioritize apps. It will also enable dynamic optimization of processing resources. EMUI 5.0 is also expected to bring in the feature to run different profiles in parallel to help users switch effortlessly between professional and personal lives. Apart from these updates, Android Nougat will bring with split-screen, multi-tasking, and quick reply features.
Huawei Honor 8 features a HiSilicon Kirin 950 Chipset with Mali-T880 MP4 GPU, 4GB RAM, 32/64GB internal storage, dual 12MP primary camera with laser autofocus, dual-LED, 8MP front camera and a non-removable Li-Po 3000mAh battery. Honor 8 currently runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. The company hasn’t announced a specific date for Android Nougat roll-out. But user’s don’t have to wait too long since February is just about a month away.
