The beta version of WhatsApp is receiving a number of updates lately, it seems like the company is bringing a lot of new features to the app. The recent 2.17.163 beta update for WhatsApp doesn’t bring anything significant, though, but is always great to have the latest version installed.
WhatsApp 2.17.163 beta isn’t a major update with any big overhaul to the app but the changelog still lists the features that have already been made available for the final builds. These include the return of text-only Status, the app’s ability to send multiple contact cards at once, and sending GIF’s using the Gboard. We have talked about these features a number of times in the past.
Besides these, WhatsApp is rolling out the updated look of the chat window. The shape of the chat box has now been changed to capsule like from square earlier. The attachment button has been moved to the chat box itself, while the voice and video call buttons have been merged into one.
The renowned messaging app was expected to soon bring the highly-anticipated feature of unsending the sent messages. The users will have a timeframe of 5 minutes before which they can revoke the message. The feature is expected to land on iOS app first and then will make to the Android app. And the WhatsApp 2.17.163 beta update clearly doesn’t come with that feature.
Talking about iOS, Apple has finally given Siri the ability to read WhatsApp messages. The messaging app is the most used platform with billions of users, but Apple didn’t support the ability to read WhatsApp messages, which has finally been made possible.
