Yesterday, VMware announced free upgrades to their Fusion and Workstation products with support for Windows 10 Anniversary Edition and Windows Server 2016. The company will launch VMware Fusion 8.5, Fusion 8.5 Pro, VMware Workstation 12.5 Player and Workstation 12.5 Pro soon.

The upgraded versions will launch on September 7 with bug fixes and performance improvements. It will also bring tabbed virtual machine windows to Fusion, letting you have multiple VMs in a single window.

And as far as the macOS Sierra version is concerned, it will launch with support for personal assistant Siri (as Apple is bringing this feature to the desktop), as well as tabs.

What VMWare had to say about the upgrade

“This is an exciting release for us because it marks the first time that we have provided a yearly update for no additional cost to current version customers. We’ve been holding the surprise in for some time, so we’re very excited to finally share this with the world,” VMware informed Softpedia.

With Microsoft Anniversary update released on August 2nd, and Apple’s macOS Sierra launch just around the corner, VMware products upgrade is a welcome sight for IT admins looking for an upgrade.
