Make free Voice and Video calls over the Internet
Facebook messenger is not just for messaging, it supports voice and video calls over the internet. You do not need a recharge or phone plan if you wish to connect to someone to speak to them or have a video chat. In order to call or video chat you need to click on the phone or the video icon on the top right corner of the message window beside the name of the person you wish to call.

Sometimes notifications from a message thread could be annoying, Facebook allows you to mute such conversation threads without you having to leave it. All you need to do is click on the name of the person or group on the top of the screen you are messaging and wish to mute. Now click on Notifications and select the period of time you want to mute, your options are- fifteen minutes, one hour, eight hours, 24 hours or indefinitely until you turn notifications back on. You also have the choice of turning off the notifications entirely.
