Famous online activists hacker group called Anonymous have targeted the so-called Islamic State on social media saying that Twitter has suspended the accounts of Anonymous members that which were being for harassing ISIS. The claims were made by the hacker group after 1,25,000 accounts were closed by Twitter.
Apparently, Twitter blocked the accounts for “threatening or promoting terrorist acts, primarily related to ISIS”. WauchulaGost, Anonymous member and part of #OpISIS tweeted the following:
Groups like Ctrl Sec, GhostSec, and Anonymous publish lists of accounts that are, according to them, ysed by ISIS recruiters and supporters. The hackers ask the online community then to report all those accounts for suspension. However, Anonymous has now said that Twitter is now targeting them, and a number of their members’ accounts have already been suspended. Some of those were major accounts in the #OpISIS group. Though, some accounts have been reopened by Twitter following requests from supporters and hackers.
While many believe that Anonymous is doing a great job giving a tough time to ISIS, many people oppose of the method that the hacker group uses. Nevertheless, Twitter sticks to its usage policies and terms and conditions, which is evident from the large number of accounts suspended. Yet many accounts have been reopened, which not only means that Twitter is a good listener, but also that Anonymous has got a strong voice to raise questions on behalf of the online community.
