Doom
Release Date: May 13th
Platforms: Windows, PS4, Xbox One
After over 20 years since the release of the original, Doom is back with an entry that Bethesda stresses is “not Doom 4”, but simply “Doom” – just like the original. And not unlike the original, this one too involves hellish landscapes populated with demons and monsters of all kinds (well, mostly the same kinds seen in the original), and an arsenal full of weapons to blast, shoot, perforate and obliterate them with. The game will feature both a campaign and a fast-paced multiplayer, as well as a mode to build your own levels, regardless of platform.
Doom will also be the first game with the id Tech 6 engine, and marks the first original game from id Software since Rage, all the way back in 2011. Will the new id Software, minus its founding fathers, manage to hold up to its own classics? At least there’s no cover-based shooting, there’s a start.
