Siri is the virtual assistant on iOS devices, the equivalent of Cortana on Windows 10. While most people do not have issues with the virtual assistant, Apple misses a few marks with the feature. However, we should appreciate how far Siri has come since its debut with the iPhone 4s.
Apparently, an iOS 10 update will fix the way Siri pronounces Barbra Streisand’s name. The celebrity shared her conversation with Tim Cook in an interview with NPR. She phoned Apple’s CEO about the issue and requested him to fix it. Cook assured her that Siri would pronounce her name correctly after an iOS 10 update set for September 30.
“And so what did I do? I called the head of Apple, Tim Cook, and he delightfully agreed to have Siri change the pronunciation of my name, finally, with the next update on Sept. 30,” said Streisand.
We are not all concerned about the pronunciation of the celebrity’s name. Her revelation of their conversation is a confirmation that iOS 10 is coming in the next month. We expect Apple to launch iOS 10 in mid-September, meaning what Streisand is talking about will be a minor update to the OS, notes BGR.
Not all of us have the opportunity to directly call the CEO when we have a problem with Siri or any other aspect of iOS. However, we should expect the operating system to get better with future releases.
