Tesla Inc (formerly Tesla Motors) gained widespread attention following its production of the Tesla Roadster, the first electric sports car. Tesla’s Model S has been the world’s best-selling plug-in electric car for two years in a row – 2015 and 2016. Tesla continues to deliver outstanding cars that are now being viewed as the gold standard when it comes to safety. Model X was recently awarded a 5-star safety rating across all categories by National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). Continuing the roll, Tesla Inc is all set to reveal the Model 3 – also rated 5-star for safety – in July this year.

Flat panel displays in cars are no longer part of science fiction movies. Tesla has always focused on delivering the best-in-class technology for its consumers and the upcoming 15-inch massive tablet in the Model 3 is just a beginning. The Model S and Model X also featured the tablet, but the one in Model 3 sits horizontally. Model 3 will come with handles that flush against the door, just like Model X.
Tesla is likely to allow consumers to choose glass roof and also provide the option to go with either 18-inch or 19-inch wheels. Perhaps the most important thing about Model 3 is the space it offers – it’s a five seater that can even fit 7-foot surfboard! And then there’s the access to Tesla’s supercharger network which all Model 3 owners will be happy to have. The supercharger will help restore 170 miles of range in just 30 minutes, faster than a wall socket.
Model X became the first ever SUV to earn 5-star rating across the board. Soon Model 3 will join the bandwagon. With sensors that support complete autonomy, Model 3 is equipped with 8 cameras, 1 radar sensor, 12 ultrasonic sensor. This is over and above the Nvidia Drive PX2 supercomputer that will support Tesla’s 2nd Gen Autopilot system – the Enhanced Autopilot. With this feature, Model X will be able to match the speed according to traffic conditions, change lanes automatically and also park itself.
There’s more to Model 3 than you can imagine. Tesla will offer Model 3 in four color variants – Red, Silver, Metallic Gray and Black. The car will be able to drive at least 215 miles on a single charge. And the unique selling proposition for Model 3 will definitely be its price – $35,000 before tax incentives! But features like Self-Driving and Enhanced Autopilot features aren’t part of the standard pricing and will cost more, bringing the total costs to $45,000.
