Sony recently announced at the MWC 2016 that there won’t be any more phones in the Xperia Z series. Instead, a new series dubbed X series, will replace them eventually. This came as a huge blow to many of the Xperia Z users as they feel Sony will not provide any more support for the older phones. But today, Sony just released the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update to all the phones in the Xperia Z5 family. The update is being rolled out in Japan for now. The roadmap of the update shows that the Xperia Z5 phones will receive the update on March 7th in the UK.

The news has been already confirmed by the Sony Mobile Japan, and the Marshmallow update is available on NTT DoCoMo network. The Sony Xperia Z5, Xperia Z5 Compact and Xperia Z5 Premium are the ones that are receiving the update. The screenshots revealed by Sony Mobile Japan show some of the new features and improvements in the update.

The update is expected to hit UK tomorrow. Other countries should also receive it soon. Apart from the Xperia Z5 family, no other phones have been given a timeframe for the Marshmallow update. If you own one of their flagships, chances are that you will be receiving the update in the near future. Those who own budget handsets will have to wait for a long time, presumably.
