In October last year, Sony had promised the users of the Xperia Z2, Xperia Z3, and Xperia Z3 Compact that those devices would be getting the Android Marshmallow update soon. Last month, the company had released a Beta build of the firmware, and finally, users of these devices are now receiving the official Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow update officially.

The new Marshmallow update for the Xperia Z3, Z3 Compact, and Z2 comes with build number 23.5.A.0.570 and gets updated to Android 6.0.1. This update also includes the Android security patch for the month of February, and it comes with the latest camera app interface.

But before you go ahead and check for the update notification on your phone, here’s the situation. The update is being rolled out for limited regions right now, including Ukraine, North Africa, Russia, Middle East, US, and Latin America. There’s no news when the rest of the world will get the update. Also, only specific models are getting the update, and they are the D6603 Z3, the D5803 Z3 Compact, and the D6503 Z2.

If you are in one of the regions mentioned above and own one of those models, then you should be receiving the update. If you haven’t got a notification yet, you will get it in a few days.
