Are you one of those people who always complain that their PC needs a bit more RAM? Well, with Samsung‘s next RAM chip, you will never complain about it. Samsung has announced its 128GB DDR4 RAM and will be mass-producing it on a large scale. At first look, the chip might look like any other ordinary RAM module, but the company claims that the capacity and energy efficiency of this chip is next to none.
The crazy 128GB RAM chips is focused mainly towards huge enterprise servers. The chips use the “through silicon via” technique patented by Samsung. The complete 128GB module is made out of 36 x 4GB pieces of 3D TSV DDR4 DRAM. It is being said that the chip provides up to 2,400 megabits per second of mind-blowing speed. The chip also saves power up to 50%.
Samsung also claims that the chip gets e-modules that provide data transfer speeds of up to 3,200Mbps, which is great for serious enterprise server needs. Though Samsung hasn’t revealed the pricing of this new 128GB RAM chip yet, it doesn’t take a genius to guess that it will be extremely expensive.
