For the uninitiated, Tizen is Samsung’s own OS. The Tizen OS-powered Z1 was unveiled in January last year. Tizen is the successor to the Bada OS that powered Samsung’s Wave line of smartphones. And now, Samsung is all set to launch its third Tizen-powered smartphone in India on Aug 11. India is the global launch pad for Z2.
As reported by Times of India, the phone is expected to be priced around INR 4,499. With Reliance Jio making its wave across India, it’s no surprise that the Z2 will come with Reliance Jio Preview Offer. Reliance had announced that to the list of Reliance Lyf brand smartphone, Samsung and Apple iPhone users will also be added. The Reliance Jio 4G offer is already available on other high-end Samsung smartphones.
Samsung Z2 Specs
Tizen-powered Z2 is expected to feature 1GB RAM, 4-inch AMOLED display and 4G VoLTE (Voice over LTE) support. At INR 4,499, this model is targeted at the sub-5000 range of smartphones in India. The Z2 could very well have many buyers in the first few weeks of its launch. In the first phase, the device will likely go on sale in India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Bangladesh, South Africa, Nigeria, and Kenya.
Reliance Jio
As you must already be aware, Reliance is offering unlimited voice, video, data and SMS for 3 months from the day of activation of Jio SIM. But this offer is only valid for 4G-enabled devices. Flagship Samsung devices like Galaxy S7, S7 edge, S6, S6 edge, S6 edge+, Note Edge, A5, Galaxy A5 (2016), A7, A7 (2016), A8, Note 4, Note 5 and Note 5 Duos will all be eligible for this offer. Along with Jio 4G services, Reliance has launched JioFI portable Wi-Fi routers. You can use these Wi-Fi routers indoors where coverage is low. An indoor Wi-Fi router called JioLink will be launched soon. It’ll offer seamless connectivity with its unidirectional antenna. As of now, indoor speeds aren’t that great but JioLink is expected to boost speeds up.
All smartphone manufacturers seem to be contemplating on how best to make use of Reliance Jio Preview Offer to attract customers and widen user base. Samsung is keen on targeting the sub-5000 mobile segment in India with the Z2, while offering the Reliance Jio Preview Offer attraction to its customers.
