The South Korean company was expected to launch Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 at the Internationale Funkausstellung (IFA) Berlin, 2016. The event is almost over and so far, the Galaxy Tab S3 is missing.
Samsung had confirmed on its Colombian website that the release of Galaxy Tab S2’s successor will coincide with the launch of their new smartphone, Galaxy Note 7 at IFA 2016. The post has been taken down since then. Samsung is yet to make an official announcement. The company’s press conference at IFA focused on Samsung Gear S3 and products related to audio, TVs, and home appliances.
The new tablet is expected to come in two variants – an 8-inch model and 9.7-inch model. The speculated high-end specs include a Super AMOLED display with 2048p resolution and Snapdragon 652 chipset. It may be supported by 3GB of RAM and 32 GB storage [expandable up to 128 GB via a micro SD card]. It may run Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS. Reportedly, it will come with new apps such as Android Play, Now on Tap, Google Browser, and an improved Doze. The new Galaxy Tab S3 is also likely to be thinner than its predecessors.
At IFA 2016, the highlight from Samsung has been the launch of its Gear S3 smartwatch. The new smartwatch comes in two variants – the Classic and the Frontier. Both the Classic and Frontier smartwatches feature circular design. Both sports a 1.3-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 360 x 360pixels and a pixel density of 278ppi. The Gear S3 is protected with Gorilla Glass SR+. It comes with 22mm straps and has a rotating bezel. Special features include Wifi, NFC, Altimeter, Barometer, Speedometer, and Built-in GPS. There is also a built-in LTE connection for streaming video, music, and voice calls.
Either the launch has been postponed or the company is being very patient. Though unlikely, this may have something to do with the recent troubles with Galaxy Note 7.
