Samsung’s reputation has taken quite a hit recently due to the Galaxy Note 7’s infamous “exploding” battery, but that’s not stopping rumor mongers from speculating on a possible Samsung Galaxy S8 release date.
They argue, Samsung is definitely going to bet heavily on the Galaxy S8 as it might bring the company the perfect opportunity to redeem itself from the disastrous chain of events following the launch of the Note 7.
As a matter of fact, the rumors are quite substantial and hinting toward the device arriving early in 2017.
Reports also say that the device will come in two variants, codenamed “Dream” and “Dream 2” bearing product IDs SM-G950 and SM-G955 respectively.
Apart from that, rumors also have it that the 2017 flagship will be powered by Samsung’s homegrown Exynos processor. Alternatively, some are also suggesting that it could be Qualcomm’s Snapdragon – possibly different processors for different markets?
And finally, Samsung may choose to go without the headphone jack in the Galaxy S8. However, it is unlikely that the company will embrace the “wireless” way as its arch rival Apple did in the new iPhone 7. Instead, we may get to see a USB Type-C hub replacing the headphone jack – after all, that seems to be the new in-thing these days.
With all being said, these are mere speculations as the device is still under development and we still have a few months till the device finally sees the light of day. Therefore, perhaps the best course of action would be to take these rumors with a pinch of salt.
