Just as we reported last week, Samsung has started rolling out the Android 7.0 Nougat firmware to Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge smartphones. Android 7.0 Nougat is one of the most-awaited software updates on the planet, hence, it’s a reason of small joy for the owners of the said device.

Samsung is on the right track as far as the Nougat scheduling for its Galaxy line of smartphones is concerned. After successfully rolling after the Nougat software for last year flagships, Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge, Samsung has turned the screws on S6 and S6 Edge. The latest release carries the build number G920IDVU3FQD1 for Galaxy S6 and G925IDVU3FQD1 for S6 Edge. Both the update weigh over 1 GB so it’s recommended to download the same over a stable WiFi connection.

Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge Android Nougat Update Changes

First up, the latest firmware comes with an all new OS, Android 7.0 Nougat. Nougat 7.1 would have been appreciated a bit more, however, it’s Nougat nonetheless. As discussed in earlier Nougat update posts, the newest release includes a new Doze mode for improved battery management, Multi-window support for running apps side by side, better overall performance, a new ‘performance mode’ allowing users to increase the display’s brightness by 10%. Samsung has also tweaked a little with Quick Settings toggles. Then, there is a new blue light filter which helps reducing eyestrain when reading or watching content on the display at night or in the dark.

Lastly, the Android 7.0 Nougat update for Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge also includes the security patch for the month of March. Overall, it’s a pretty neat and hefty update for S6 variants, and should definitely help in improving the overall experience.
