Design

Ultra-premium, high-end glass, – these things are surely not the first that come to mind when you take into account the Galaxy S series. We’re used to much more plastic, again plastic, and always plastic. However, using the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge, the Korean giant have surprised the millions of people.

The very first time you lay your eyes on these mobiles you’ll be absolutely amazed, and could be forgiven for believing that Samsung isn’t capable of constructing these wonderful high end mobiles. Starting from the colors to material used, these devices ooze high standard quality. Particularly the Galaxy S6, which is something really distinct, using a layout that we’ve never seen before. It is exceptional, wonderful, and something just Samsung can do, thanks to the technological art and resources. Samsung has chosen a unibody design with Corning Gorilla Glass 4 on both the front and rear of the devices. Samsung has added matte aluminium if we take a glance at the sides.

Therefore let us take a look at what we are dealing with here in relation to the physical design. We will discuss about both the premium handsets, beginning with the Galaxy S6.

The front is the conventional Samsung layout. The display takes up the most area of the front, having a home button in the mid at bottom and back key and recent apps key on right and left. On the top, you will find the few sensors, front camera, speaker grille, and the Samsung Logo. The back is in level and houses the LED flash as well as heart rate sensor. To get the flat rear, both the LED flash and heart rate sensor are behind a small glass window. We didn’t really like the protruding camera lens, but the devices going leaner and leaner, this can be the only solution it could be placed on the unit.

In the base you will find the mic, microUSB port, speaker, and 3.5 mm headphone jack. At the top there’s another mic and IR blaster. Going to the sides, there is SIM tray and power button on the right and separately placed volume rockers on the left.

Over on the Galaxy S6 edge, the single difference is double edge display, which provide a truly immersive experience as well as a prominent appearance to the phone. The Korean company missed the waterproofing on both the phones, but still the S6 edge could live under water for more than 20 minutes.
