The new rebooted Samsung Galaxy A5 (2016) and Galaxy A7 (2016) were unveiled officially in December 2015, and the company has officially launched the phones today in India at the Samsung Forum meet 2016. Both the phones come with premium looks, thanks to the full metal bodies. The specs have seen a bump too in comparison with their predecessors.
Samsung Galaxy A5 (2016)
The Samsung Galaxy A5 (2016) features a 5.2-inch Super AMOLED FullHD screen with Gorilla Glass 4. Under the hood is an octa-core 64-bit Snapdragon 615 processor coupled with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal expandable storage. The physical home button at the front comes embedded with a fingerprint sensor.
At the back of the phone is a 13MP camera with Optical Image Stabilisation and f/1.9. Selfies and video calls will be served with a 5MP front shooter. Juicing the phone is a 2,900mAh battery.
Samsung Galaxy A7 (2016)
The bigger Galaxy A7 (2016) is similar to the A5 (2016) in terms of looks albeit with a larger screen. It gets a 5.5-inch Super AMOLED FullHD screen and is powered by the same Snapdragon 615 octa-core CPU as the Galaxy A5 2016. There’s 3GB of RAM and 16GB of internal expandable storage.
The Galaxy A7 2016 also gets a home button with an embedded fingerprint sensor. The cameras are the same as in the new A5, though there’s a larger 3,300mAh battery inside. Connectivity options in the phone include NFC, 4G LTE, Bluetooth 4.1, Wi-Fi, MicroUSB 2.0 port, and GPS.
Both the Galaxy A7 (2016) and Galaxy A5 (2016) offer the Samsung Pay feature with their NFC+fingerprint sensor configuration. They get Cat 4 & Cat 6 LTE support and run Android 5.1 Lollipop out-of-the-box with TouchWiz UI on top. A Marshmallow update will be coming soon. Both the phones will be made available in Rose Gold, Black, Gold, and White.
Price and Availability
The Samsung Galaxy A5 (2016) has been priced at INR 29,400, and the Galaxy A7 (2016) is priced at Rs. 33,400. Both the phones will start selling from 15th February exclusively via Samsung retail stores and Snapdeal.
