Reliance Jio’s Welcome Offer has created a new price war in the Indian telecom industry. All major telecom operators have been trying to entice their customers in new ways. Now, Aircel has announced a new 3G data plans to counter the competition. The telco is offering 1GB 3G Data At Just Rs 24.
Aircel users can now get 1GB of 3G internet with 28 days validity, at just Rs 24. However, to get this offer, you will have to recharge for Rs 329 that’ll give you 2GB of 3G data. Next, you will have the option to top it up with 1GB data by paying Rs 24. new offer in available in 3G circles including Chennai, ROTN, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Orissa, Kolkata, ROWB, Assam, North East, Bihar, Jharkhand, Punjab, and Jammu and Kashmir. In different regions, the base recharge value varies between Rs 291 and Rs 329, while the top-ups range from Rs 24 to Rs 41.
While the new offer is very useful for Aircel users, it does not match up to the competition. Aircel users will have to pay Rs 329 for 2GB [assuming 1GB is exhausted every day], which brings the total data cost up to Rs 953 (Rs 24 x 28 days + Rs 329 one-time recharge). Recently, Airtel also offered unlimited 1GB data recharges at just Rs 51 for users who do a one-time recharge of Rs 748 (valid for six months) or Rs 1,498 (valid for 365 days). It is common knowledge that Reliance Jio is offering 4G data for free till December 31. However, it does come with a FUP limit of 4GB per day.
Among other offers, Idea users can get 1GB of 3GB data at Rs 249, while Airtel and Vodafone are offering 3GB of 3G/4G data packs starting at Rs 459. Vodafone has also introduced a SuperNet 4G data plan, which offers 10GB of 4G data at the price of 1GB. Also, for select Samsung J series smartphones, Airtel is offering 14GB of 4G data free with 1GB recharge, which costs around Rs 250 [basically Rs 17 per GB]. The Reliance Jio tariffs start at Rs 149, which includes unlimited free voice calls, 300MB data, unlimited night data between 2 am and 5 am, unlimited access to Jio apps and 100 SMS per day. While the Rs 4,999 plan offers 75GB of data per month. The Jio services will be commercially launched on January 1, 2017.
