After considerable success with the Jio Preview offer, Reliance Communications is now taking it up a notch by extending the free data offer by another three months.
On Thursday, RIL’s chairman and managing director Mukesh Ambani took the stage to clear the air regarding the fate of the free data offer. He confirmed that all existing and new RJio users will be entitled to the offer with no exceptions whatsoever.
With that announcement, it is now confirmed that all new Jio users will enjoy unlimited free Jio data, voice, video, and Wifi along with access to the full collection of Jio apps and content till March 31, 2017. As for the existing users, they are not required changing their SIM as the offer will be automatically updated on January 1.
The Reliance JIo preview offer was originally launched two months back with the goal of providing unlimited access to high speed 4G data, HD video call, HD voice call, SMS and Jio apps for three months for all Jio Sim users.
However, shortly after launch, the company suffered some setback due to the frequent call drops and slow internet speeds. Adding to its woes, many rival telcos simply refused to provide sufficient points of interconnection to Jio’s network. These disputes were later settled after the intervention by India’s telecom regulator TRAI.
According to some reports, there are more than 50 million Jio users in India, although Reliance Communications has so far refused to divulge the accurate and updated figures.
