Rumours regarding Red Dead Redemption 2 get stronger by the day, as we get closer and closer to this year’s E3. According to Take-Two Interactive, the owner of Rockstar Games, the publisher will be present at E3 “in a big way”. Could Red Dead Redemption 2 finally be announced this year? We examine the other rumours floating around the internet.

According to CrossMap, a leaker named Shinobi602 has stated that Red Dead Redemption 2 will release later this year. A contrary leak, one that seems less likely, suggests that the game will be titled Red Dead Redemption 2: Legends of the West, and that it has been in development for 3 and a half years. According to this leaker, named AnonDN1978, the game will release next year.

According to the AnonDN1978 leak, there will be 3 main characters in the game: two of whom will be fixed, while the third will be customisable. A three-protagonist set-up won’t be unprecedented for Rockstar Games, of course, considering GTA 5 had three protagonists. Both leaks, it seems, indicate that the game will be released on the PC, Xbox One and PS4, marking the series’ entry onto the PC.

Either way you look at it, it seems like Red Dead Redemption 2 is coming soon, and may be revealed later this year. So far, the only game that we know that Take-Two Interactive will be demoing at E3 will be Mafia III. That’s certainly not enough to warrant being at E3 “in a big way”, so that makes us think there’s definitely going to be some big announcements coming our way.
