Third and the latest variant of Huawei’s P9 series, the P9 Lite, has been finally launched. According to a report, P9 Lite has been officially  launched in Germany at EUR 299, and is expected to hit shelves in May.

A german website Teltarif has reported the launching event of P9 Lite. The specifications of P9 Lite is a lot similar to the one seen on the first of the series, Huawei P9. Like P9, P9 Lite sports an FHD (1080×1920 pixels) display. The smartphone is powered by an octa-core Kirin 650 processor (1.7GHz quad-core + 2GHz quad-core) coupled with 3 GB of RAM. On the storage front, the device offers 16 GB of internal space which is expandable up to 128 GB via microSD card. Huawei P9 Lite runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow with Huawei’s own customised Emotion 4.1 UI.P9 Lite

Unlike the Huawei P9 or P9 Plus, P9 Lite does not feature a dual-rear camera setup, it has a single 13 MP  rear lens and an 8 MP front camera for sharp selfies. The much applauded dual-lens camera seen on P9 and P9 Plus features two different 12 MP lenses, one capturing images in color and the other in monochrome. It combined within itself a balance of contrast and depth, the sharpness generated because of the autofocus lenses  yields detailed shots in both light and low light situations. It is also being argued that Leica is involved in the development of these dual lens cameras.

“Leica has been deeply involved in the development of the camera-module of the P9 and P9 Plus,” noted the company in the release.

The statement, while vague, may be the only official response we get about the origins of the rear cameras on the P9 and P9 Plus.

P9 Lite sports a fingerprint scanner at the back just like its older siblings of the same series and is fuelled by a 3000mAh battery, same as the Huawei P9. It supports LTE Cat. 6 and Bluetooth, GPS/ A-GPS, GPRS/ EDGE, Wi-Fi,  3G, and Micro-USB as other connectivity options.

We still have no confirmation whether it will be available in other countries out of the Europe or not. Stay connected for more updates and don’t forget to leave your opinions in the comment box.
