Popular Chinese smartphone maker Gionee has launched its latest mid-range smartphone, Gionee S6s in India. The device is targeted at the selfie-lovers and comes with a high-resolution front camera with a front-facing flash and various other customizations. The Gionee S6s might be a called a slightly upgraded version of last year’s Gionee S6 as there are hardly any differences between the two devices except for the front-facing camera.
The Gionee S6s sports a 5.5-inch FHD IPS display with 2.5D curved glass and is powered by a 1.3GHz octa-core MediaTek MT6753 chipset coupled with 3GB of RAM. The device offers 32GB of internal storage and also features a hybrid dual-SIM slot which can be either used for a second SIM or for memory expansion up to 128GB. The S6s supports 4G along with VoLTE support and runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow with Amigo 3.2 UI on top. The smartphone packs a 3,150mAh battery and sports a fingerprint sensor on its rear.
In the camera department, the Gionee S6s sports a 13MP primary Sony IMX258 rear sensor with a f/2.0 aperture and LED flash. The major highlight of this device, however, is its front camera. There is an 8MP fixed-focus lens on the front with an aperture of f/2.2. There is a dedicated front-facing flash module with a support for screen flash too. Both the cameras perform quite decently in proper lighting conditions.
The Gionee S6s has been priced Rs. 17,999 and is currently being sold exclusively through Amazon in India. The device will soon be made available on other platforms too. You can purchase the Gionee S6s here.
