A lot of iPhone game developers launch their apps in specific regions before rolling them out worldwide. A good recent example would be Angry Birds Holiday which has been soft-launched in the Philippines, but not in the rest in the world. However, this doesn’t mean you can’t play the game before it is launched in your region. Here’s what you can do to play, courtesy the folks at iDigitalTimes.
How to Play iPhone Games Before They Release in Your Region
First off, you need to log out of your iTunes account, which is fairly straightforward. Next, you need to create a new account. When you’re doing this, you’ll be asked what country you want your Apple ID based out of. Pick the country your game is undergoing a soft launch in (such as the Philippines, for Angry Birds Holiday), and hit next, agreeing to the terms and conditions. Then, cancel the account creation and restart the App Store.
Head into the iTunes store of the country you selected, and find a free app (or game), and install it. Make sure it’s free! Once you hit the install button, you’ll be asked to create a new account. Here, pick an alternate e-mail address that you haven’t already used to sign up at iTunes with. Hmamail is an excellent source for throwaway e-mail addresses for cases like this.
Of course, if you want to use the version of the store from your region, you’ll have to log out and then back in. Let us know if this iPhone trick worked for you in the comments below.
