Hugely popular Overlord anime series is all set to for a compilation film makeover. The anime series was based on eponymous light novels volume 1-3. Overlord light novels were named the top-selling light novel series in 2015. The announcement for the compilation film did not specify the release date.
The original light novel series is written by Kugane Maruyama. Its online serialization begun in 2010. The series has published 11 volumes so far. The novels got their manga adaptation in 2014 with Satoshi Oshio and Hugin Miyama. The mange was published in Comp Ace magazine. The anime series premiered in Japan in July 2015 and ran till September 2015.
The 11th volume was bundled with a Blu-ray disc which contained 30 minutes of new content from the Ple Ple Pleiades chibi anime short series and will also Pleiades combat maids and rest of the Floor Guardians. The announcement for the compilation film was made through the wraparound jacket band of the 11th volume. It is scheduled to be released on September 30.
The story of the novel is set in the year 2126 when a Dive Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game or DMMORPG called Yggdrasil is released. However, within the game, there exists a guild called Ainz Ooal Gown. After 12 years of run, the game is ready to shut down its servers. However, one of the guild members, Momonga decides to remain in the game. The novel follows his adventures while he tries to solve the mystery of the game.
The Blu-ray disc and DVD with English dub for the anime series are scheduled to be released on November 8. By September 18, 2015, overlord light novels and manga had sold more than 2 million copies. Yen press manages the light novels and manga in North America.
