Outlander season 2 ended back in July 2016 and since then, fans have been patiently waiting for the next season to arrive. There is currently no information regarding when the next season of this critically acclaimed series will arrive, but the production of the third season is said to be completed in June 2017. Along with this, Starz has also revealed the plot summary of the first half of Outlander season 3.
Outlander Season 3’s Filming To Get Completed In June 2017
For those who don’t know, the next season of Outlander is based on the book “Voyager” by Diana Gabaldon. The next season is said to have 13 episodes, which will cover the events of the said book. The filming for Outlander season 3 started in September 2016 in Scotland. Starz later announced that the cast and crew are going to go to Cape Town in South Africa in March to film the remaining episodes. They are said to film pivotal sea voyage scenes on the sets in Cape Town. The rest of the episodes will be filmed there and the production will reach its conclusion in June 2017. Fans of the hit series “Black Sails” will be familiar with the location as it was also used to film some episodes of the said series.
Outlander Season 3 Plot Summary
Along with this, Starz also revealed the plot summary of the first half of Outlander season 3. According to the summary, the third season will begin with Claire after she has returned to 1948 by travelling through time. She is said to be pregnant with Jamie’s child, and is on her way to reconnect with her first husband, Frank. On the other hand, Jamie will deal with the loss of his wife and the aftermath of the Battle of Culloden in the 18th century. After a few years pass, both of them try to build up a new life, but are always stopped by the memories of each other.

Caitriona Balfe, the actress who plays the role of Claire in Outlander also shared what her character is going to go through in Outlander season 3. According to her, Claire will try her best to move on with her life and put the past behind her. However, her never-ending love for Jamie will not let her move on so easily. She will make some decisions, which will later become problems for her.
