Oppo has already been hitting news since it teased its camera-focused Oppo R9 and Oppo R9 Plus last month. However, it did not reveal much of its specifications and features back then. Finally, these two smartphones by Oppo got certified by TENAA earlier this month and subsequently its key features have been revealed ahead of its official announcement scheduled for March 17.
Certification by TENAA has clarified the suspicion on the processor used in R9 Plus. According to the newly certified report, R9 Plus has an octa-core 64-bit Snapdragon 652 processor instead of the earlier speculated Snapdragon 810 SoC. The Oppo R9 might also be powered by the same chipset.
Apart from the processors, according to the rumoured specs by TENAA, Oppo R9 will sport a 5.5-inch FHD AMOLED display, 4GB of RAM with 32GB internal memory expandable up to 128GB. The smartphone will run Android 5.1.1 (Lollipop) out of the box and on the top of it, we have Oppo’s own customized UI ColorOS 3.0. It will run hybrid dual SIM (nano + nano/microSD) with 4G supports.
Oppo R9 will have a fingerprint sensor, however, we are not yet sure about where it will be located on the phone. Now, Oppo has already teased Oppo R9 and Oppo R9 Plus to be a camera-focused phone, and yes it is true, R9 features a 13-MP front shooter and on the rear, we have a massive 16-MP camera lens with an LED flash. The dimension of this smartphone is 151.8×74.3×6.6mm and it weighs around 145g. Oppo R9 is powered by a 2850mAh battery featuring VOOC Rapid Charging.
On the other hand, Oppo R9 Plus will have identical specs except the camera, battery, size and memory size. R9 Plus will come in a dimension of 163.1×80.78×7.4mm weighing around 185g with a slightly bigger 6-inch display. When it comes to front camera it sports a slightly better 16-MP front lens. R9 Plus has 64 GB i.e., double the internal memory than R9. This beast of a phone is powered by a massive 4120mAh battery which also features VOOC Rapid Charge.
Additional information is known about the processor powering R9 Plus, it is rumoured to be powered by an Octa-Core Snapdragon 652 (620) processor (Quad 1.8GHz ARM Cortex A72 + Quad 1.2GHz A53 CPUs) along with Adreno 510 GPU.
Both Oppo R9 and Oppo R9 Plus will be available in Gold and Rose Gold colors. The official announcement of these two smartphones is scheduled to take place in Beijing on March 17.
