Chinese smartphone manufacturer Oppo has sent out media invites for a phone launch event in India scheduled for April 5th. Speculations are rife that the devices which are to be launched in all probability are the Oppo R9 and R9 Plus which are still not available outside China.
The invite, however, doesn’t explicitly mentions the name of the device which is scheduled to be unveiled, but dropping hints like ‘Selfie Expert’ removes all doubts whatsoever regarding the identity of these upcoming devices. This is because of the fact that both the Oppo R9 and R9 Plus are known for their front cameras as both of these devices sport a 16MP front snapper. These devices have been marketed as camera-centric phones since their inception.

The Oppo R9 and R9 Plus were unveiled in China on March 17th and went on sale just a week later. Oppo sold over 180,000 units of these devices just on the first day itself.
The company has not announced the pricing for India, however, we expect the similar price tag for which the devices are selling in China. The R9 is available in China at a price of RMB 2,799 (Rs. 28,650), while the R9 plus carries a price tag of RMB 3,299 (Rs. 33,730).
Oppo has started the global expansion of these devices and we may expect these devices to hit other markets soon.
