If there is one area where Chinese smartphone manufacturers need to improve, it will be software updates. While the world is getting ready to embrace the Android O i.e. 8th iteration of Android, some OEMs from China are still shipping phones with Android 5+ onboard. Same is the case with most smartphones from OPPO. Luckily, few OPPO devices are getting a respite with a new software heading their way. The list includes OPPO F1s, R9, and R9 Plus.
What’s new in the Software update
First up, the latest software release brings Android 6.0 Marshmallow to the said devices. All these devices were launched last year with Android 5.1.1 Lollipop software underneath the custom Skin. Hence, even the upgrade to Marshmallow is a big thing, leave alone Nougat.
According to OPPO, users who upgrade to the latest ColorOS software will get extra benefit other than the upgraded Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS. Essentially, the latest release will allow the OPPO R9 Plus and R9 users to have a dual-sim function with 4G+3G compatibility.
