Rising through the ranks, OnePlus has made a mark for itself in the mid-range smartphone market. The company has got a knack for bringing prolific yet affordable smartphones, be it OnePlus 3T, 3, or older models. However, despite those flagship killing abilities, the Chinese conglomerate hasn’t been able to serve its loyalists well enough!
No Nougat Yet For OnePlus 2, X
A big bunch of OnePlus users are extremely unhappy with the company’s poor update strategy. As you may have guessed by now, this isn’t about the latest flagships, but the ones released before them – OnePlus 2 and X!
Owners of these year-old devices have been rooting for an update to Android 7.0 Nougat. To recall, OnePlus promised Nougat for OP2 last year in June and has been quiet since then. As this is not the first time the company is going mute after announcing an update, there’s no telling when or in how much OP2 users will get the big Android update. On the other side, no such announcement seems to have been made about OPX, which was targeted at the entry-level segment of the market.
While OnePlus 3 and 3T continue to get regular updates, the Chinese giant has not acknowledged or even responded to the concerns of OP2 and X users. Multiple posts on OnePlus forums including a “Thunderclap” crowd speaking campaign with more than 500 supporters have also been created to bring attention to the problem.
The company also declined to comment when approached by Android Police. But, considering the backing of this campaign and scores of social media posts, we expect to see an official statement very soon!
