OnePlus is known for offering quality smartphone experience to its customers. So far, all four of its devices have been quite successful among users. Not only all OnePlus devices feature superb specs, the Chinese manufacturer is also quite proactive about releasing the firmware update to its eligible devices. The company is expected to roll out Android 7.0 Nougat update to OnePlus 2 and OnePlus 3 pretty soon. Now, OnePlus One and OnePlus 2 have been spotted running Android 7.0 Nougat operating system on a benchmark site.
Earlier reports claimed that the OnePlus One will not get the Android 7.0 Nougat update. However, as per Indian Express, the original ‘flagship killer’ device has been spotted running the new OS on GFXBench.
While this hints at an eventual update, there has been no official confirmation regarding the same. It is unlikely that an official Android 7.0 Nougat will be rolled out to the two years old handset. Android devices are eligible for the software update for only two years. Also, the OnePlus One is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor, which is said to be incompatible with Android 7.0 Nougat’s Vulcan API.
In a recent Reddit AMA session, OnePlus confirmed that it is working to bring the latest OS to OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 2 smartphones. The company CEO, Pete Lau also confirmed the same by posting a video on Twitter. The video shows a OnePlus 3, with the Android Nougat’s N logo. However, even OnePlus X won’t get the update since it is powered by a Snapdragon 801 chipset too. As per recent reports, the OnePlus 3 will get the Android 7.0 Nougat update before the end of 2016, followed by OnePlus 2. Android fans can still get the latest Nougat features on OnePlus One and OnePlus X devices via CyanogenMod.
OnePlus is expected to release a new OnePlus 3T smartphone running Android 7.0 Nougat operating system. It is expected to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor.
