If you are familiar with Chinese culture, you probably know the Chinese look at the number 4 like a bad omen. Many buildings don’t have the 4th floor (and 14th, and so on), and you won’t find many rooms with a number four in China either. This is because the number 4 pronounces very close to the word “death” in the Chinese language.

Android 7.0 Nougat Update Confirmed for OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 2
OnePlus 3

Well, it seems the superstition regarding number 4 is present in OnePlus since recent reports state the company will skip the 4 and will name its next flagship killer device OnePlus 5. The device will come during 2017 and will pack some interesting upgrades.

The biggest new feature is a ceramic housing. This isn’t the first time for the company to go with ceramic as the main chassis material since a limited version of the OnePlus X sported a ceramic housing. While ceramics will be used, don’t expect for the whole body to be made out of it. Reports state only the backplate will be made out of ceramics.

As for the specs, the OnePlus 5 should sport a top-of-the-line hardware. The phone will be powered by Snapdragon 835, and the phone will pack 6 GB of RAM. The display should be upgraded to WQHD resolution (2,560 x 1,440 pixels) and should keep the 5,6-inch size. Another step towards flagship models from other manufacturers, since previous models sported a 1080p display resolution.

Since OnePlus presents new flagship killer models during the summer, it is expected for the OnePlus 5 to be revealed during the summer of 2017. The price could go up since the phone will sport a higher resolution display and the most powerful chipset available. Since OnePlus 3T is $40 more expensive than the OnePlus 3, it is expected for the 5 to sport a price higher than previous models. What do you think about the next flagship killer device from OnePlus?
