To those born in the 90s, the Nokia brand rings a name in mobile gadgetry. Back in those days, the company released countless models of mobile devices in the market. Unfortunately, with the advent of the iPhone and other Android devices, the brand somehow lost its appeal. Decades later, Nokia is back with a vengeance.
Fresh off the launch of its newest line of smartphone, Nokia and HMD Global are once again rumored to be on the cusp of releasing another line of high-end smartphones. Rumor has it that both companies are releasing three new smartphone models with one of them being the flagship phone.
According to Gizbot, the three phones slated for a release in the second half of the year are the Nokia 7, Nokia 8, and the Nokia 9. The Nokia 9 will be HMD Global and Nokia’s flagship phone for 2017. According to the same report, these brand new phones will be released in the last week of July or first week of August.
Both the Nokia 7 and Nokia 8 will sport a decent Snapdragon 660 SoC. However, the former will have a smaller display than the latter which will come with a 5.7-inch QHD panel. On the other hand, even though the display is a bit smaller, the Nokia 9 will have a Snapdragon 835 instead of a 660.
Other important features of the Nokia 8 are the 22-megapixel main camera and a 12-megapixel front sensor. As well as either 64GB or 128GB of built-in flash storage and a 6GB RAM. Meanwhile, the Nokia 9, being Nokia’s flagship phone will have more to offer than the first two models.
Among which is the OZO audio feature and an IP68 ingress protection rating, a big enough 3,800mAh lithium-ion battery with Quick Charge 4.0, and of course, Carl-Zeiss optics. All phones will be running Google’s latest mobile operating system, Android 7.1.2 Nougat.
When it comes to pricing, although Nokia and HMD Global are yet to announce it, there are speculations the Nokia 7 and Nokia 8 will be priced at $435 and $550 or 27,999 and 35,999 INR, respectively. Meanwhile, consumers can expect to pay a bit more for the Nokia 9 as it is rumored to carry a price tag of around $700 or 44,999 INR.
