Google Chrome app is by far the fastest and the safest browser to use on smartphones. Designed for Android, Chrome brings you personalized news articles, quick links to your favorite sites, downloads, and Google Search and Google Translate built-in. You get to use incognito mode to browse the internet without saving your history and browse privately across all your devices. With Google Chrome, you can also sync bookmarks, passwords, and settings automatically across all your devices.

It’s been quite a while since Chrome got a redesign. Google is now giving the good old Chrome a different look and feel. The search giant has redesigned the Chrome app, introducing several user-friendly features.

New redesigned Google Chrome app now available for download

Google has done some major changes to Chrome’s UI. Specifically, the address bar has been moved from top of the screen to the bottom. This makes sense because your thumbs rest at the bottom of the screen when you hold the smartphone. This redesign of the address bar is even more convenient if you have a smartphone with a large display.

Besides moving the search bar from top to bottom, Google has also added what’s called the Chrome Home Expand Button. Tapping this will give you fast access to favorite websites and news stories. The features aren’t part of the official Chrome app that’s available on the Play Store yet. However, there’s still a way to access these features. Follow these steps to get your hands on the redesigned Chrome app right now –

  1. Download Chrome Canary from Play Store.
  2. Launch the app and then type chrome://flags/#enable-chrome-home in the address bar.
  3. You will see a list that shows Chrome Home Android and Chrome Home Expand Button Android at the top.
  4. Switch both the above options from Default to Enabled.

Now, you can enjoy the new Chrome user interface! However, if you wish to revert back to the original layout, you can always do so by switching from Enabled to Disabled.

Note: The APK available for download on the Play Store is the developer version and may be unstable.
