Uncharted is perhaps one of the best games to even come out on the Playstation. Over the years, the game has won numerous awards including the much-coveted Game of the Year award. Unfortunately, the saga of our favorite treasure hunter and explorer, Nathan Drake, has already concluded in the last instalment of the franchise. Now, the same company responsible for it, Naughty Dog, is busy with a number of new projects in the pipeline. Perhaps this is why the company’s co-president is not so sure if they will be making more Uncharted games in the future.
In an interview with Game Informer, Naughty Dog co-president Evan Wells mentioned that the development team is very excited for the current spin-off. The Uncharted: The Lost Legacy arc centers on Chloe Frazer and Nadine Ross’ adventures as they track down an artifact known as the Tusk of Ganesh. While the game sounds really exciting, the team is not so sure whether it wants to continue making side stories for the franchise. Furthermore, the company has its plate full at the moment with the additional works it is putting on the upcoming The Last of Us Part 2 game.
While this may sound very sad, Wells did not specifically say that he would not want another Uncharted game. Instead, he said that it is not the priority at the moment although it is still open for discussion. It could take several years before the developer could once again make a viable Uncharted game. Nevertheless, according to Naughty Dog, the last side story could potentially bring an end to the entire Uncharted franchise.
For the time being, all of the company’s efforts are being spent on the development of the two upcoming games from the studio. Both games have been announced on the Playstation 4 last year. However, it is still unclear when the actual releases will be.
