Imaging hardware is also an aspect where the Moto E has received a major update. Unlike the 5MP fixed focus rear camera on the last version, the newest one comes with 5MP snapper that supports auto focus. Unfortunately, Motorola is still lacking for the flash.

The 2nd Gen Moto E also has a front facing camera, something unavailable in preceding version. While the inclusion of a front camera is welcome as it is going to enable Moto E users to enjoy video calls, the standard of the camera is poor. Clicking selfies with the phone could be bad experience.

moto e 2nd gen camera review

The new Moto phone snaps better Photographs that what its forerunner managed. But that’s not saying much. The pictures shot in good amount of light lack finer details and adds unnecessarily high sharpness, giving the image an unreal feel. Well, it is possible to capture nice pic in macro or close up shot. As anticipated, photography in low light condition is another bad experience, as it have lots of noise and blotched up colors.

Likewise, the videos shot with the Moto E are all that bad. Motorola says that videos are recorded in 720p but we discovered it is incorrect. The videos are recorded in 480p. The camera is good enough in case you’d like to record terrible traffic on a road, but if you are planning to use the phone to shoot video of your son cutting birthday cake, it could be a terrible idea.
