Motorola has launched its Moto Z and Moto Z Play smartphones with Moto Mods in India. The new smartphones were launched at an event in Delhi today. The new Moto Z is priced at Rs 39,999, while the Moto Z Play will cost you Rs 24,999. Both smartphones will be available via amazon.in and Flipkart from 17th October.

Moto Z
The Moto Z was announced at the Lenovo Tech World 2016 event earlier this year. It sports a full metal uni-body design. The new smartphone comes with water repellent nano coating along with a fingerprint scanner.
The Moto Z sports a 5.5-inch AMOLED display with QHD (2560×1440 pixels) resolution. It is powered by a 2.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 quad-core processor along with 4GB of RAM. It comes in two storage options – 32GB and 64GB [expandable]. It runs on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow OS out-of-the-box.
The new smartphone sports a 13-megapixel rear camera with f/1.8 aperture, optical image stabilization (OIS), and dual LED flash. It also features a 5-megpaixel front camera. Connectivity options include 4G LTE support, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.1, NFC, and a USB Type-C port. It doesn’t have a 3.5mm audio jack and offers USB as an alternative. The Moto Z is backed by a 2,600mAh battery with Turbo Charging support.
Moto Z Play
The Moto Z Play was announced at IFA 2016 last month. The new smartphone comes equipped with a 3,510mAh battery that claims to offer up to 50 hours of backup on mixed usage. It also supports Motorola’s fast charging technology TurboPower that offers up to 9 hours battery life with just 15 minutes of charging. There is also a fingerprint scanner on board.
The Moto Z Play sports a 5.5-inch Super AMOLED display with full HD (1080p) resolution. It is powered by a Snapdragon 625 processor along with 3GB of RAM and 32GB internal storage [expanded via a microSD card].
The Moto Z Play sports a 16-megapixel rear camera with laser autofocus, PDAF, f/2.0 aperture, and 4K video recording capability. It also features a 5-megapixel front camera. Connectivity options include Bluetooth 4.0 LE, Wi-Fi, and USB Type-C port. The dual-SIM smartphone comes with a 3.5mm audio jack.
Moto Mods
The semi-modular devices allow you to attach external modules called Moto Mods for extra functionality. These Mods can be attached to the 16 magnetic port at the back. Some of these modules include JBL’s SoundBoost [boosts audio output], Insta-Share mod [turns your handset into a projector], a PowerPack [boosts the battery life by up to 23 hours], and even a Hasselblad True Zoom camera mod.
Lenovo released the individual price and bundle pricing for the Moto Mods. The JBL Soundboost speaker is priced at Rs 6,999 [Rs 5,999 bundle pricing]. While the Hasselblad True Zoom Camera will cost whopping Rs 19,999 [Rs 14,999 bundle pricing].
The Insta-share projector and Incipio offGRID Power Pack are priced at Rs 19,999 [Rs 15,999 bundle pricing] and Rs 5,999 [Rs 4,999 bundle pricing], respectively. The Wood and Ballistic Nylon Style Shells are priced at Rs 1,099 [Rs 899 bundle pricing], while the Leather Shell will cost you Rs 1,599 [Rs 1,299 bundle pricing].
