Android Nougat update already launched for the Verizon versions Moto Z Droid and Moto Z Droid Force in the US. After a few days, Motorola stated on Monday that global variants of the two models will start receiving the new software build, followed by Moto G4 and Moto Z Play.

A statement from Motorola reads “Last month, we told you Android 7.0 Nougat would be making its way to several of our smartphones before the end of the year, including Moto Z. Well, we have some good news…the wait is over! We’ll begin rolling out Android 7.0 Nougat globally to Moto Z and Moto Z Force this week.”

The update will be rolled out in phases, so don’t worry if your smartphone doesn’t receive the update right now. The update should reach all devices in a week or two. The new Nougat-based software brings features like night mode, better notifications, multi-window multitasking, battery improvements, easier way of updating the software, as well as numerous optimizations.

In addition, Moto Z and Moto Z force will become compatible with the new VR platform, Google Daydream, after the update is installed. Two models are made for VR with their high-resolution displays, numerous sensors, and potent hardware.

To install the update, follow these steps:

If you’re received a notification about update becoming available, select “Yes, I’m in.” Wait for the software to finish downloading and then tap on the “install now.” Just wait for the update to finish installing, and to phone to restart and that’s it. You now have Android Nougat on your smartphone.

If you’re not received the notification about the update you can try manually to download it by going to Setting menu, selecting “About Phone,” and then “System Update.” If the update is available, select “Yes, I’m in,” and then wait for the update to download before tapping on “install now.”

Moto G4 Play

As we already said, the update process will roll out in phases, meaning that a couple of weeks may pass before your Moto Z or Moto Z Force receives Android Nougat update. The next two devices to receive Android Nougat are Moto G4 series as well as Moto Z Play. They will start receiving new software as soon as Motorola finishes testing it.

Other Motorola devices slated for Android Nougat update are Moto X Pure Edition (3rd Gen), Moto X Style, Moto X Play, Moto X-Force, Droid Turbo 2, Droid Maxx 2, Moto Z, Moto Z Droid, Moto Z Force Droid, Moto Z Play, and Moto Z Play Droid.
