The Lenovo-owned company, Motorola today launched its latest and world’s first shatterproof display smartphone, the Moto X Force, in India. The handset is priced at Rs. 49,999 for the 32GB and Rs. 53,999 for the 64GB. Starting on February 8, 2016 the smartphone will be available to purchase from Amazon India, Flipkart and other major retail stores. The new device is coming in three colors; Black, Grey and White.
The Moto X Force, which is an international variant of the Droid Turbo 2 made by Motorola for Verizon Wireless, is said to have a “ShatterShield” display with a 4 years replacement warranty. As reported by Motorola itself, the display is made of an aluminum rigid core with flexible AMOLED screen and dual-layer touchscreen panels, which is used for redundancy if one goes bad. The company also states that the display won’t break into pieces even if it was dropped on a plate of concrete. Additionally, the smartphone comes with a water-repellent nano-coating.
Regarding the Moto X Force specifications; the device is said to have a screen size of 5.4-inch (1140×2560 pixel resolution) QHD display and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 Octa-Core processor, clocked at 2GHz. A 3GB of LPDDR4 RAM comes inside. It will also support an expandable storage option using a microSD card (up to 2TB) on its internal memory of 32GB. The device will be backed by a 3760mAh battery that is claimed to last for 2 days with “mixed use”. The smartphone will support Quick Charging via a 25 W charger.
The Moto X Force sports a 21-megapixel rear-camera with an f/2.0 aperture, a dual-LED flash and a Phase Detect Autofocus as well as a 5-megapixel front-facing shooter with the same f/2.0 aperture.
The new Motorola smartphone will not be shipped with Android 5.1.1 Lollipop, but will soon be upgraded to Android 6.0 marshmallow.
